Journals... 5/24/09

Today in Young Women’s, we learned about the importance of keeping a journal.

Some of the leaders came up and shared their experiences and thoughts of journals. The first leader(I won’t name the names in case they don’t want everyone to know stuff about them) that came up had been journaling most of her life. She mostly had journals with loose leaf and stuffed random things in the pockets. Their was a Roadshow program, even a bug in her missionary journal. By keeping a journal, she found out a lot about herself. The second leader told about her journal, which was from a trip where she first met her husband. :) The last didn’t keep much journals, and she said how much she regretted it. She no longer remembers experiences she wished she did. We

We also talked about the different ways to keep a journal.
1. Write about things you are grateful for
2. Write about your favorite things
3. Write about spiritual experiences
4. Write about any experiences you have
5. Write these things down on calendars to remember the dates
6. Write in an LDS journal account (an online journal) (ldsjournal.com)

We set down what I would call rules.
1. Write about anything, it doesn’t matter what
2. You don’t have to keep it if you don’t want. For example, you just wanted to blow off some steam
3. Keep a journal before you regret you didn’t
4. You won’t regret keeping a journal.
5. Don’t throw away experiences. Your children may go through the same thing and want to know how you dealt with it or felt

How to pick strawberries

Quinan is watching Special Agent OSO. Each show has a problem and on this particular episode it’s not knowing how to pick strawberries.

Quinan said: “that’s easy!”

I say: It had better be because he was just in the backyard and hour or two earlier picking (and eating) some.

FHE Games

On Monday night, Michele was in charge of the Family Home Evening activity. She decided to have us play some of the games that will be used at Thursday night’s pioneer R.S. activity. It was totally fun, so much that I was thinking it might be cool to crash the meeting… well almost that cool.

Squishy Stuff

Quinan: I love the squishy stuff.

(Asking if anyone hat the uneaten fat from their pork chop). That (eating fat thing) must skip a generation or something.

So Much Choices...

You know how I blogged that I wanted to be a cartoonist? Well, I might also want to be a teacher, or an author, or a historian! I love to study history. Especially the Renaissance! Leonardo Da Vinci is also a very, very, very interesting person. So much mysteries about him.

The bravest thing you ever did

I can think of lots of times when I have had to do something that took me out of my comfort zone. I think doing those took bravery. But the first thing that came to mind is when I went to Interlochen Arts Academy.
I was 15 the first year I went to the Academy. My family lived in Colorado which was really far from Michigan. I had been away from home before, though not for months at a time. I think though what makes it so brave is that I went and did not know a single person. I had a good set of friends in Colorado and sometimes I can’t believe as a teenager I left a place I had friends and chose to go somewhere where I knew no one. Also, now that Kennerley is at about the age I was when I left I can’t believe I went. She seems so young to leave home! I also think letting me go was the bravest thing my mom probably ever did. Sending her oldest off someplace she really did not know to much about.

Describe a typical day of your Junior High years...

I went to Northeast Junior High. I don’t remember what time I got up. But I think I might have practiced the piano before school. Then after a good breakfast which my mom always made (eggs, pancakes, etc) I was off. I walked. It probably took me 20 minutes. If I remember correctly I met my friend Allison part way and we walked the rest of the way together. After school I would stay and practice. My harp was kept at the school because I needed it for orchestra. I’m thinking I stayed till 4:00 but I don’t really remember. Then I would walk home. After school, I had piano lessons once a week, mutual and occasionally a harp lesson. I think that was about it. Mom, did I leave anything out?

How about you? Describe a typical day of your Junior High years. Do you remember?
