Back in the middle of December it got pretty cold (for us) and we stopped paying attention to our garden. Well, a couple weeks ago we cleaned up the backyard a little and started watering the garden again. Note: we didn’t plant anything yet. A benefit from square foot gardening and living in a warmer climate is that our garden didn’t die off (despite neglect). We now have lettuce big enough for salads, spinach, cilantro (enough for salsa), peas with baby pods, radishes, almost-baby carrots, and our asparagus is now two years old. Wednesday night we enjoyed a salad with lettuce, spinach and radishes from our garden it was delicious and we’re now looking forward to more gardening this year.

Wow. And here I am just giddy because we can finally see the grass again.

Our snow peas are almost thawed out! We should be able to get something in the ground this month.

Funny you should ask! I was just telling Nathan this morning that I have ALOT of work to do to get the garden ready. This snow just disappeared from it last week!!! We’re going to start tomato, pepper and basil seeds inside this week. Grant wants corn, but we’ll see…..

That’s amazes me that all of you had snow until last week. Kim, I’m impressed that you are starting all those from seed, I think we’ll just buy tomato and pepper starts (maybe this week). Corn would be so fun!
