  1. Hugh,

It’s Peggy again. Amy tells me that you use the Nike+. I’m wondering if you’re able to program it to tell you when to switch from running to walking, vice versa. Does it work that way?

    Thanks!

  2. Yea, I hate looking at a watch to know when to start and stop.

Unfortunately Nike+ iPod doesn’t allow you to program it to tell you when to switch.

Nike is testing a new Nike+ Coach program, which at first I thought this would allow you do download a training program to your iPod and do what you ask, but after testing it out it only lets you print the schedule and just keeps track of your training on the nikeplus.com website. You still have to look at the clock.

My solution was to add audible “minutes” with a voice speaking each minute on the audio I listening to while running. I listen to general conference so it was easy (for me) to download an mp3 and add the minute markers. Then I just review the schedule I’m on before running and do the quick math in my head.

If you have a Mac, you could do this yourself (using Garageband and Applescript). Amy (David) should also be able to help you create your own… or if you give me a week I could do it for you.

Another solution I just read about is to find a podcast that is premixed for this purpose. A guy from california has one available on itunes, his name is Robert Ullrey.

You might be find others in the Fitness & Nutrition section on iTunes as well.
