Tooth fairy
One time when I lost my tooth, I remember Mom coming in to say good night. She slipped her hand under my pillow and kept it there for a moment. Long enough to put money under there and gab a tooth in a plastic bag. Afterwards I knew for sure that Mom was the tooth fairy.

Does anyone know the address of where our family lived in Nephi?
Third time a charm?
Well, this is the third time I have said I wanted to try blogging. The past two times I said that, I would blog a couple of times and then that was it for me. I have such a hard time doing this but there are a few blogs I love to read so I get the whole blogging thing… just can’t seem to make it work. So, I have been thinking about why I have such a hard time doing it and trying to think how I can improve and make it happen. I had set the time to blog for about 8:00 pm. I think that is the biggest reason I can’t get into blogging for a number of reasons. #1 There are many nights when I am not even home at 8:00, by the time I do get home I just want to get to bed and relax. #2 Usually at 8:00 I am trying to get my family ready for school the next day and ready for bed. That is hard to do and blog at the same time. #3 When I do sit down and blog at 8:00 I can’t think of anything to blog about… all I can think of was it was just a regular normal day with nothing exciting and my life is to boring to have anything to blog about anyway. #4 Quinan… he doesn’t like me doing anything that doesn’t center around him (can’t remember if that is a 3 year old thing or if perhaps its a youngest syndrom) I have to pick my battles with what I do that doesn’t involve him and blogging just hasn’t won that battle. #5 I like the blogs that have pictures and links and all that fun stuff and can’t ever remember how Hugh showed me how to do it. I’m sure I could feel a whole page of reasons but I guess that is good.
I have been thinking again about why I wanted to blog. Which caused me to think about blogs I enjoy reading and why. I like reading Czech this out, The Brooks Family, Rathbuns, tastes kinda minty, all because they are blogs from family members and it is fun to learn more about my family. I also like three blogs from people I have no idea who they are. I don’t even remember how I happened upon these blogs because I don’t even know anybody that knows these bloggers. I like Because I Said So this blogger has six children and she is just a great writer. I always laugh at her stories. She reminds me of my friend Jan. Jan and this lady can take a normal occurance and turn it into a hilarious story. If anyone else tried to tell the same story it would most likely be a boring story. I like unwrapped because this lady is quite the crafter. I can’t do crafts… sometimes I can if I copy but this blogger is very creative and I like to look and ah. One of my favorite blogs and the reason I keep thinking I want to blog is constant growing amazement. I think her blog from today tells of why I like it. “I started my blog one year ago today. It was a foreign territory to me, although I have been a big journaling writer forever. I had no idea a year ago, the difference “blogging” would make in my life. I have a “year in the life” to share with my great-great-greats. I’ve shared our family’s lives, recipes, spiritual lessons, frustrations, thoughts about friends and family, a little of what has taken place in the world. I have people say to me all the time that my journal sounds just like me! Surprise! That is the way it is suppose to me.” I feel like I know this woman a little bit and she often uplifts me and gives me something to think about. I would like my blog posts share about the experiences of me and my family, spiritual lessons, frustrations, thoughts, a little of what has taken place in the world, the books I like, the music I like, so my great-great-greats can some to know a little bit about what life was like for Michele Roper.
So, what I am going to change so I can make this happen. #1 I am going to TRY and carry a camera around with me and really take pictures of the things going on. #2 Then right when, or as soon as I get to a computer, something happens or I take a picture I will blog about it. #3 Try to think of it as a way to share with those who will come way after me a little bit about me #4 have Hugh show me how to do links, and pictures (I already did that one! I got him to write it down step by step for me so I wont forget. I know he thought I was being like my mom but he didn’t laugh at me to hard)
Wish me luck!

“Look it’s Buzz Lightyear” — Quinan (when seeing an airplane’s vapor trail in the sky).
Tricycle Cam
These are a couple test shots for a future project. Best if played at the same time. Notice Qinan is sportin’ his cousin Brad’s wannabe beard.
Learning to...
When I was a young boy I loved playing in water. Our family would go swimming at Centennial pool where depth of the water was mostly over my head. I would stay pretty close to the side and most of the time hang on to the edge.
I remember one day my brothers decided to “teach” me to swim. I think Trevor took the initiative (but it could have been Blair or Doug), and picked me up telling me it was time to learn to swim.
Before I knew it I was flying through the air. I’m sure my arms and legs were swinging every which way. As I hit the water and started to sink, I remember thinking I hope I don’t die.
My brother’s wisdom showed through. Instinct kicked in and I had no choice but to flopped and paddle for the edge of the pool swimming for my dear life.
I don’t remember ever being frightened of swimming after that.
Another talent a brother taught me was to whistle. As a boy, Blair would often sneak up on me and grab my ear in a pinch death grip worthy of modern day wrestling yelling “whistle or lose it.”
Have you ever tried to whistle while in immense pain? It’s pretty tough. I would frantically blow air through puckered lips struggling for sound to come out while trying to squirm away without severing my ear.
I learned to whistle pretty quick.
Although I didn’t always agree with their teaching methods, I’m thankful for brothers who cared enough to teach me many how-tos, (just two are mentioned above).
