The Roper Family's Adventure!... Fun...
As hinted in the title, we’ve had quite an adventure. And it’s not over yet. Great.
I’ll start at the beginning, from my point of view.
I woke up to a loud noise, similar to a vacuum. But it was WAY too loud to be a vacuum. Since I was half asleep, I just assumed my parents were cleaning the carpet, though there was no reason at all for them to be cleaning the carpet. Especially at 6:00 am. My alarm hadn’t gone off yet, so I just laid in my bed, listening to the hubbub of the mysterious machine. As my annoying alarm sounded off, my mom can into my room. (Note that the lights were still off.) “Jensen, the house flooded so we turned off the water. Don’t use any,” she exclaimed. She tapped her foot on the ground as she said this, and left the room. Still dreamy, I was confused and didn’t really think of what she said much. As I stepped down, icy cold water flushed around my feet. Oh great, I thought. Most of the house had about an inch of water on the floor.
That was the morning, every hectic, especially for a sleepy 12 year old girl. But it wasn’t half as frantic as it was going to be.
When I came home from school, the first thing I saw was a green truck in front of our house. The carpet and tile and hardwood floor had all been torn out and giant fans scattered around the house. Because of this, we had to stay at the La Quinta for a few days and then came back home.
Well, that’s our story. It’s not fun walking around in shoes in our concrete floor home. Sharing a room with Kennerley and Quinan. Soon we’ll have to get a suite in a hotel when workers come to fix the plumbing, and it’s going to be wild for a month or two.
The thing I’ll be looking forward to is sleep.

Sewing
I’ve been wanting to learn how to sew for a while, and I learned how to hand-stitch quilt and I taught myself how to make bags. While my grandma was visiting our family, I learned how to sew a skirt, that I now wear to church, using patterns. I was digging through a bucket of old sewing stuff when I found some patterns for making Barbie clothes that I got when I wanted to make my own barbie clothes when I was little. I decided I could make some of the clothes and give to little girls on holidays, or even sell them online! We’ll see how that goes soon, I guess.

Girls Camp
I’m going to Girls Camp for the 1st time on Tuesday!!! I’m so excited. I’ve only heard good things about camp except for the bugs and you don’t get enough sleep. Plus, my mom won’t be there. Remember her going to camp when I was about 5 or 6, and we were used to her going! (it’s odd that every time I grow older, my mom gets a totally different calling. I moved into primary, she moved out. I got into Young Womens, she got out.) The girls in the same tent as I, will be my fellow first year friends! I’m just so excited!!!!!! I can’t wait, and Monday will seem to take forever while I’m waiting. I’ll just be asking questions to Kenn and my mom about camp ALL day.

Possibly New Member To The Roper Family!
On July 14th, Kennerley went outside to water the garden. She heard a meow coming from under the experimental raised garden box. When she looked under it, she didn’t really see anything. Earlier, one of the stray white cats was hanging out under there.
About six hours later, after dinner, we went to see what it was. It was a little kitten! It was only about a day or two old, its eyes still closed! We waited to see if the mom would come back, but she didn’t. We tried to find an animal hospital, but they were all closed. We got some advice and cat milk replacer and bottle from Pet Co., and started to take care of the poor kitty.
If it turns out to be a guy, we’re going to name him Forta, the music term for loud, since he meows a lot, and loudly. If it’s a girl, we’re, going to name her Gabby.

Journals... 5/24/09
Today in Young Women’s, we learned about the importance of keeping a journal.
Some of the leaders came up and shared their experiences and thoughts of journals. The first leader(I won’t name the names in case they don’t want everyone to know stuff about them) that came up had been journaling most of her life. She mostly had journals with loose leaf and stuffed random things in the pockets. Their was a Roadshow program, even a bug in her missionary journal. By keeping a journal, she found out a lot about herself. The second leader told about her journal, which was from a trip where she first met her husband. :) The last didn’t keep much journals, and she said how much she regretted it. She no longer remembers experiences she wished she did. We
We also talked about the different ways to keep a journal.
1. Write about things you are grateful for
2. Write about your favorite things
3. Write about spiritual experiences
4. Write about any experiences you have
5. Write these things down on calendars to remember the dates
6. Write in an LDS journal account (an online journal) (ldsjournal.com)
We set down what I would call rules.
1. Write about anything, it doesn’t matter what
2. You don’t have to keep it if you don’t want. For example, you just wanted to blow off some steam
3. Keep a journal before you regret you didn’t
4. You won’t regret keeping a journal.
5. Don’t throw away experiences. Your children may go through the same thing and want to know how you dealt with it or felt
So Much Choices...
You know how I blogged that I wanted to be a cartoonist? Well, I might also want to be a teacher, or an author, or a historian! I love to study history. Especially the Renaissance! Leonardo Da Vinci is also a very, very, very interesting person. So much mysteries about him.
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
I am in Drama Club, the Fantasy Firebirds, and we are doing a play. (Name of play is the title of this article!) Sadly, I’m a gypsy, which is an extra and I think the only extra. But, on the bright side, one of my Drama buddies is on the stage at the same time as me (I drag her off stage) and friends not in Drama can be an extra with me!!!!

Cartoonist
I decided what I want to do when I grow up. It is unusually early to decide, but I think this job will be perfect for me. A cartoonist. I was a little bit younger when I made some comics for my dad. They were O.K. for a beginner who with no intention, had no idea what they were actually doing. I was bored around last year and read from my sisters book, “The Great Big Art Activity book”. I thought cartooning was pretty cool. In Computer class last semester, my class went to a career website, where I quickly viewed about a cartoonists job, but focused more on being a writer, a big idea of a job for me. Yesterday, a Saturday, my family went to the library and I checked a book called “Art For Kids: Cartooning” by a cartoonist named Art Roche. This book went deeper into cartooning, from good materials to making people, objects, and animals. From hints for getting jokes to publishing your cartoons! It even explained the different types of cartoons. A gag cartoons which is picture, usually in a square, and shows the joke, then below a caption of what the speaker says. Advertising cartoons are the ones on a cereal box. Comic books, and even plain doodling. I now want to get a kneaded eraser which is an eraser that feels like clay and you can clean it by pulling it apart over and over. This book also said not to spend too much money on materials, the honest truth. I read it in the amount of a day and so far have created a gag cartoon and currently working on a comic book. You are also toured by the one and only Bunny Guy!
